What if you travel abroad?
Although 2020 is not the recommended year for traveling abroad, “there are two fundamental things to do: check that you are in rule with the scheduled vaccinations in your country and check if they are present in the country chosen for the holiday other diseases for which a vaccine can be made“advises Michele Fiore.
But beware: this last advice is not valid only and exclusively for very exotic destinations. Let’s think, for example, of tick-borne encephalitis: it is a vaccine-preventable disease that is also widespread in some areas of our territory, such as in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Trentino.
Obviously, any vaccinations must be done in time, so it is necessary to begin to inquire a few months before the trip. To find out more, you can consult the Safe Travel website of the Foreign Ministry (there is a specific section for children) or, in English, the website of the Atlanta Disease Control Centers.
