Love i games of the past? Years ago children didn’t have smartphones or video games and were able to play together for hours using just simple marbles, balls or coins or … just their imagination.
It is very meaningful to revive the games of yesteryear in this strange summer, which follows a period that has put us to the test due to the pandemic: for this reason we have decided to offer some tips to children on how to revive the games today. of the past.
We asked Andrea Angiolino, journalist and game inventor, who published the book Let’s play together with paper and pencil (Sonda Edizioni), to suggest us a “game of the past” for the little ones.
The activity presented is part of the online SUMMER CAMP of nostrofiglio.it on Monday.
“For the little ones, a game that can be played without touching each other is the very traditional one two three star”, explains Andrea Angiolino.
How many are played
“There can be two or more, even many.”
How to play
«A player who” stands below “stands next to a wall, the others settle behind a starting line at a certain distance. Whoever is below turns away to avoid looking at the others, who in the meantime are advancing, and says: “One, two, three … Stella!”. When he finishes saying “Stella!” turns back to them: the other players at that point must be immobile and remain so until he turns around again.
If he sees any player moving, even a very small one, he says so and that player is disqualified. Whoever arrives first to touch the wall wins and “is under” the next hand », concluded Andrea Angiolino.
Andrea Angiolino, the author
“I started writing about games in game magazines in 1982, when I was still in high school. Since then I have published many board games: the most famous is Wings of War, today Wings of Glory (Ares Games), which has been translated into a dozen languages and re-proposes the aerial duels of the first and second world wars with very accurate models . Its sci-fi variant is Battlestar Galactica – Starship Battles, ed. Tesla Games.
For children there is Safari Golo (Oliphante 2), a photographic hunt for animals.
Among my books on the game there is Let’s play together with paper and pencil (Sonda), which has also been lucky abroad, Just nothing to play (Gallucci), which teaches games without specific materials and Stories of games (Gallucci), which tells curiosity and background on how the most famous games were born. Then there is the Dictionary of Games (Zanichelli). I teach game design courses, write articles on games and comics for the Treccani works, tell stories of games and toys at Wikiradio (Rai Radio Tre) ».
