Today the post is in partnership with my friend Jaqueline BernardoMy boy, my life.
Jaque is the mother of Isaac 6 years old and Helena 1 year old. I asked her to talk about breast milk donation, experience lived by her, eI hope you like it!
Being a milk donor is an act of pure love and dedication. You take time out of your life to feed a baby that is not yours and that needs your milk very much, and for some reason it cannot at the moment be fed by its own mother. Many babies are saved and gain weight and immunity thanks to these acts of love. And did you know that it doesn’t take much?
One liter of milk can feed ten (10) newborns. Every drop counts, every drop makes all the difference. Milk is a living thing in constant evolution. It is a complete food. The government makes possible campaigns for the Encouragement of Donation, our role is to encourage whenever possible!
At certain times, usually between June and July, there is a huge reduction in donors. Prematures need this donation a lot, especially in the first week. Any healthy mother in lactation can donate. For you to see the importance of donating, in 2015, of the more than 79 thousand premature births, only 26 thousand received breast milk donation.

They have this need, where there are milk banks, the collection is done in their house, they explain everything, what and how it should be done. There is a sadness in knowing that in some cities there is no collection station or milk bank.
Today the milk bank networks are able to supply 60% of the demand for newborns, 40% unfortunately do not receive what they need.
You can find the nearest milk bank on this Fiocruz website.
If you know someone who can donate, encourage them. I donated for three months and it was a divine experience. I’m sure I’ve been able to help many babies, even though it’s a short time, it’s rewarding!
Be a milk donor. To donate milk is to donate life!
