From spring to winter, whatever the season, it is essential that waxing is up to date. Even with countless new hair removal methods appearing on the market, waxing remains an authority in the industry. This is because among all the existing procedures, wax is the one that generates the most benefits. Even after years of existence the method is surrounded by myths and truths and, for lovers of smooth skin to understand what is around the practice, the expert on the subject and founder and CEO of the Pello Menos network, Regina Jordão, listed some:
MYTH! Flaccidity is caused by the weakening of collagen fibers and also by excessive exposure to the sun, alcohol consumption, cigarette and incorrect diet. The wax is applied on the first layer and therefore does not penetrate the skin. “Flaccidity can happen only if the person chooses to shave these more sensitive areas every week, which is not recommended. The ideal is to have an interval of 20 to 30 days” comments Regina.
2- No pimples:
TRUTH! Waxing doesn’t cause pimples on the skin. It may be that the person sees some red balls in the waxed area, and the name of this is folliculitis. This problem is caused by pore clogging after the procedure. To avoid the skin must be well sanitized.
3- Should people with allergies avoid the procedure?
MYTH! People allergic to wax should consult their dermatologist before the procedure. This is because in many product versions they may contain chemical additives. “The ideal is to get waxes without mixtures” reinforces the CEO of the network.
4- Is applying deodorant after the procedure bad?
TRUTH! “It is very important that alcohol deodorants be avoided immediately after waxing. This is because they can cause an allergic reaction in the skin, which is not the result expected by those who shave. We recommend our customers to use odorless deodorants that have less chemistry in their composition” says Regina.
6- Can the procedure rupture vessels and cause varices?
MYTH! The wax is applied on the first layer of skin and therefore does not reach veins and microvessels that are located in a much deeper area.

7- Is waxing with hot wax less painful?
TRUTH! The hot wax relaxes the skin while dilating the pores, which makes it easier to remove hair and causes less pain. “For there to be even greater comfort in those who are waxing it is still necessary to use correct techniques and know that who is doing the procedure is a trained professional” says the specialist.
8- May cause skin spots:
TRUTH! If the person does not follow the professional’s recommendations, the skin may become stained after the procedure yes! After hair removal the skin becomes more sensitive because it loses part of its natural protection during the removal of hair. For this reason, in areas with more exposure such as the face, it is necessary to avoid the sun’s rays at least two days after the depilation and abuse the sunscreen.

The Pello network started in June 1996 in a salon in Copacabana to offer a differentiated hair removal service, minimizing the pain and discomfort of less intimate beauty salons. Currently the network has over 40 units in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and São Paulo. More information: www.pellomenos.com.br
