Responsible for carrying us from one side to another and for sustaining all the weight of our body, the feet are not always properly recognized. According to Karina Barros, podologist and technical coordinator of Doctor Feet, the largest podiatrist network in the country, it is essential to have a daily care routine to avoid any setbacks.
“People forget or stop caring for their feet because of the little need to show them,” comments the expert, who also lists four commandments below to keep them always healthy.
The feet usually dry out for countless reasons, but it is the heels that suffer most. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to make a daily hydration with creams and lotions. “One tip is to apply the product after bathing or before sleeping; this makes it easier to create a ritual. If the feet are very dry, the moisturizer can be applied again in the morning,” adds Karina.
Wash well and dry even more!
As the little mouse at Ra Tim Bum Castle used to say: “wash, wash to my foot, my dear foot, which holds me all day long”. During the bath wash your feet well, but don’t forget to dry them even more, especially in the area between your fingers. The humidity can cause very serious problems. If you go swimming in the pool, care should be doubled. Sea water, on the other hand, has antiseptic, nourishing and moisturizing properties that benefit the skin.
Wear suitable shoes!
The heat and humidity in the feet can be directly related to the use of more closed shoes, which can favor the contamination of mycoses caused by fungus. Alternate wearing them and avoiding tighter shoes is an option. Another tip is to invest in cotton socks. “When you buy a new pair of shoes, choose to do it at the end of the day, because the feet are already very swollen, so you will know if it will be comfortable after a long period of use” completes the net specialist.
Watch your nails!
“The nails should be cut in a straight line, as this prevents it from getting jammed. It is necessary to remove the enamel one or two days before the next enameling, so that they can recover in time. It is important to visit a podiatrist frequently to avoid problems such as ingrown nails, calluses and problems due to the use of inappropriate footwear”, he concludes.
