After so many disconcerting and disheartening news coming from the school world, in a situation where no one is yet clear about what will happen in September, good news comes from the Lazio region where in recent days a law has been approved that will have a significant impact on the education of children in the age group between 0 and 6 years.
What is it about?
With the approval of Legislative Decree 65/2017, for the first time in Italy, a region transforms the nursery from a ‘social assistance service’ to a real training course of early childhood which ends at the end of the nursery school with the entrance to elementary school.
This, for families, above all it means cancellation of the lines and free access to the whole cycle which, in fact, begins at the nursery school and ends at the Kindergarten. From a social point of view, however, it implies the inclusion of all children aged 0 to 6, regardless of their social class, ethnicity, religion … in a path accessible to all that breaks down differences and lays the foundations for integration.
Again within the same Decree, theOutdoor Education, that is the possibility for the structures to practice teaching outdoors, in parks, courtyards, gardens, abandoned urban spaces, agritourisms, farms, nature reserves …
This is a huge opportunity che transforms initiatives such as the nest in the woods, the agrinido … into real training courses offered to families within the whole packageor formative.
So, on the subject, Marta Bonafoni, Lazio Regional Councilor:
The law was passed yesterday, and contains a brand new article, which smells of meadows and the future: for the first time we recognize outdoor education as part of the system. We give her the strength of a norm, without putting the reins on her, allowing her to grow up with her children. Politically recognizing the value of a school made in contact with nature, the city spaces: the square as a classroom, a tree as a teacher.
The approval of the law took place as part of the highest investment for schools made in recent years by the Lazio Region: we are talking about 10.5 million for 2020, 17 million for 2021 and 21 million for 2022.
