How is it possible to give up the superfluous?
«I always recommend to wait 30 days before buying something new. If, after 30 days, you realize that your life will not drastically improve with the purchase of that object, you will probably live well without it and, therefore, you can do without it ».
“Also, when you remove the superfluous in the house, I would also recommend deleting things you haven’t used for more than 6 months, especially if you have the possibility to borrow them when you need them or if they have no sentimental value for you ».
Reduce waste in the living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom
«Some initial suggestions to reduce waste in living room are as follows: you can try to find furniture with natural materials, like wood, or you can buy second hand items, which would otherwise be thrown into landfills ”.
“For the kitchen, it is better to buy groceries without packaging and in a local market. Here, in the United States, we have the possibility to buy dry products from “bulk bins” (large containers with “loose” foods), to buy which we can bring our containers from home instead of buying them in disposable packaging ».
“In bathroom, I would recommend making sure that the “toiletries” have zero waste alternatives: it would be useful to choose, perhaps, a bamboo toothbrush. In bedroom, my first interest was to make my wardrobe smaller so that I don’t have to buy more unnecessary clothes! For the rest of the suggestions and other details, you can read my book! ».

Small children at home: any suggestions for a “sustainable” daily life?
«I recommend guiding children through actions. Explain to them why you are trying to live more sustainably“and get help in the commissions that concern the house and that allow you to apply the principles of sustainability. Then, you can also cook a vegetarian meal with the children or have them help in the garden, etc.”.
Tips to help families lead a more sustainable lifestyle

- “Talk about sustainability and vote right, even if you need to contact companies about more sustainable products or engage with local government.”
