Well, although it is not considered a tourist region par excellence, although there are no landscapes naturally capable of attracting the general public (except, perhaps, for the lakes area which also boasts international tourism), Lombardy can also hide some little pearls to discover. Itineraries for families perfect for a day trip out of town.
This week we recommend an itinerary to discover the Enchanted Woods that dot the Region.
PATH OF THE ENCHANTED FOREST – Colle di Vareno (BG)
An enchanted path between gnomes and legends perfect for the whole family, even for the youngest children.
The whole walk, in fact, is animated with wooden sculptures and fantastic characters and is enhanced by the many legends that affect the area. There are numerous rest areas for a quick snack or a picnic in the countryside, one of these with a spectacular view of the inhabited area of Angolo and Lake Moro.
The walk takes about an hour, for a difference in height of about 100 meters along 3 km.
THE ENCHANTED WOOD OF GNOMES – Zone (BS)
An enchanted path that crosses a magical forest. The Wood of the Gnomes of Zone it is basically a path that can be easily traveled by anyone who from the center of Zone (BS) follows the signpost 227 – 227A up to the slopes of Mount Guglielmo scattered with many small wooden sculptures that suddenly emerge among the trees and bushes. Along the sentiro, younger guests will be able to meet elves, gnomes, fairies, wolves, owls, dragons … All in a natural setting of great beauty where there is no shortage of rest areas in which to stop for a quick snack or a picnic. .
The walk takes about an hour (round trip are carried out on the same path) and dogs are allowed. Along the way it is possible to stop at the Casa del Rosso to learn more about the history of the park and the funny sculptures.
PATH OF THE ENCHANTED FOREST – Canzo (CO)
With a walk of about 45 minutes, The path of the Enchanted Wood it starts from Primo Alpe, immediately after the fountain on the right side of the road, and leads up to Terzo Alpe, about 800 meters above sea level.
The path can be followed by anyone and after an initial descent and crossing of a stream, it crosses flat and easy climbs that climb gently to cover the approximately 100 meters in altitude.
The whole path is marked by the presence of funny and tender sculptures created, starting from 2008, by Alessandro Cortinovis, who also takes care of the maintenance of the park and, at the end of the road, by a labyrinth that opens, at the exit, just on the goal. A walk for the whole family, in short, not far from Milan. Also in this case there is no shortage of rest areas and wooden tables to organize a picnic.
THE PATH OF EXPRESSIONS – Schignano (CO)
The path of Expressions di Schignano was born from a project that aimed to combine nature, art and tourism. It winds through the Intelvi Valley, along a magical path that leads from Alpe Nava to Alpe Comana.
Here there is a small lake and a farmhouse, perfect for a lunch break, and the path that leads to the top of Alpe Comana.
The travel time between there and back is about 3 hours and the route is judged to be of medium difficulty
Absolutely not to be missed is the view from above on the panorama of Lake Como.
THE ENCHANTED FOREST – Zavattarello (PV)
The Enchanted Forest it extends at the foot of the castle of Zavattarello in the heart of the Oltrepo Pavese. It is a fairytale walk completely immersed in nature along which children can come across the Smurfs’ Village, meet Pinocchio, be seduced by the talking trees, play with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The forest is accessible all year for free and the path that crosses it is suitable for anyone, with short sections that have a slight slope. Strollers are allowed although their use is not recommended.
Also in Zavattarello, not to be missed, the Goose ride, a path that starts from Piazza Dal Verme and spirals around the castle hill, until it rejoins the road that leads to the fortress.
