The arrival of a child comes with a lot of joy, expectations and a certain amount of work! One of the family’s missions is to organize the baby’s wardrobe and leave the little room well tidy to welcome him.
More than just accommodating everything in its proper place, it is essential that the most important items are always at hand and with a practical disposition that helps parents in their routine.
Organizing baby’s wardrobe without complication
For first and even second time moms, the preparation of the little room usually generates some doubts. To better enjoy the pregnancy and save time avoiding doing everything at the last minute, we brought simple and effective tips!
Before starting the organization, it is very important to perform three tasks:
- Wash the clothes and pieces of layette with neutral soap;
- Perform a good cleaning throughout the wardrobe, especially inside the niches, drawers and corners. A cloth slightly moistened with water is enough;
- Separate clothes and shoes according to sizes RN, 0 to 3 months, 3 to 6 months, 6 to 9 months, 9 to 1 year and over 1 year.
If you also choose a dresser, it is ideal to install the changer and accommodate the products of daily use: clothes, diapers (without the packaging), cotton, wet wipes and ointments. In the other drawers, you can keep the cloth diapers, mouthwash and bibs, as well as other small pieces such as shoes, socks, gloves and caps.
In the wardrobe, larger pieces, less frequently used items and occasional clothes are usually placed.
Start from top to bottom in baby’s wardrobe
At the top, keep products that will not be used so soon, such as dummies, nappies, baby bottles, cutlery, plates, cups, bites and toys.
You can also include in this space the pieces of clothing of larger sizes that did not fit in the drawers or the rack. They can be placed in boxes with lids and labelled.
Hangers
Hang the RN size pieces and from 0 to 3 months as dresses, jackets, jumpsuits, jeans, bibs – which are the most routine pieces. If you don’t have a dresser, remember the bodysuits and pants.
To add a touch of charm, use standardized child hangers, i.e. the same model. This way, the furniture is optimized and creates a cleaner and more beautiful visual effect. If space is left, include the pieces from 3 to 6 months.
To make it even easier, use hanger partitions that identify sizes. You may also prefer to place according to the seasons, from the coolest clothes to the warmest.
Offices
Organize diapers for immediate use that did not fit in the dresser. Blankets, bedding, bathing and crib set changes can be organized in piles or in boxes. With the little shoes, organize one next to the other and from the smallest size to the largest.
Wardrobe Drawers
Time to settle down! Here, they are also arranged according to size, always from the smallest to the largest, from top to bottom. For example:
- Drawer 1: clothes from 3 to 6 months;
- Drawer 2: clothes from 6 to 9 months;
- Drawer 3: clothes from 9 to 1 year;
- Drawer 4: clothes over 1 year.
In the first year of life babies grow very fast and because of this they lose clothes quickly too. Usually, every 3 months the clothes are changed. Therefore, the idea is that there is a rotation between the wardrobe and dresser drawers.
When the drawers start to get empty, go down those little clothes that you put there on top of the cupboard into the drawers. This way, the furniture becomes much more functional.
In short, the rule is basic: accessories and clothes for constant use in everyday life should always be at hand, accessible and at eye level.
