Organizing the baby’s dresser is a delightful task, because it means the big day is near! Besides, who doesn’t love to review all the beautiful clothes they’ve bought or won?
But just like the wardrobe, there is the best way to organize each piece so that the routine becomes more functional with the baby. To help you on this mission, we’ve put together some useful and practical tips.
How to organize the baby’s dresser?
The dresser’s storage pattern helps the baby’s care, breastfeeding and nappy changing. The idea is that all things can always be to the mother and be easily found in the middle of the morning, for example.
Choosing the baby’s dresser
The baby’s dresser is an indispensable piece of furniture for the little room. At Grain of People, you will find more than 100 models of various colours and styles to suit all tastes. With great internal space and quality materials, our furniture is synonymous with cost-effectiveness. Get inspired!
If you have already chosen your baby’s dresser, it’s time to put everything in order before the new family member arrives. No last-minute stuff, see? We recommend that you start planning from the 30th week of pregnancy.
1. clean the furniture well
Before putting the items inside the baby’s dresser, it is important to clean it well. As your baby’s skin is very sensitive, avoid using conventional cleaning products, which can cause allergies or leave the room smelling too strong.
Provide a new cloth and moisten with special baby products or just water. Remember to dust the drawers and corners well.
2. Accommodate the changer and hygiene kit on top
The top of the baby’s dresser is where most diaper changes take place. The place is the most recommended because it is at a comfortable height for parents. Invest in a good changer to make your love very comfortable and safe.
The hygiene kit (which includes pots, bin, diaper holder and lamp) will also be used to clean the baby and should be on top of the dresser.
3. Put the items for diaper change in the 1st drawer
Pomadinhas, wet towels, diapers and creams should be kept in the first drawer to make it easier for parents or those changing their baby. Other frequently used accessories, such as breastfeeding items, pacifier, nail clipper, talcum powder, thermometer and hairbrush should also be in this drawer.
If you prefer, organize everything in baskets and organizers. You can leave a small stock of the products you use the most to facilitate the daily replenishment and the supply of the maternity pouch.
Tip: on the dresser, leave only the size of diaper that is currently being used. The stock with bigger sizes you can store on top of the wardrobe and gradually remove.
4. Separate the baby’s clothes by size
During this phase, the baby changes numbers very quickly. So the first thing you need to do is separate them all by numbering. Separate them as follows:
- RN (Newborn);
- 0 to 3 months;
- 3 to 6 months;
- 6 to 9 months;
- 1 year.
5. Fold the clothes
After washing the clothes with neutral soap and leaving everything well done, it is important to know how to fold the pieces to optimize the space of the furniture. See how to do it:
– Baby blouse: you can make like an adult blouse. First, place the blouse with the front facing down. Then fold the sleeves and sides in until the parts are in the centre.
Then fold the bottom up and that’s it! The final result should be a square, which you can fold in half so that the clothes fit in line on the dresser.
– Pants: join the two sides of the pants and then fold in half, repeating the process. That’s it! Easy, huh? With only three folds you can store it knowing that it will optimize a lot of space. This tip also goes for socks and blankets.
– Body: Support the body with the back facing up. Then, fold the bottom part – the one you button the clothes – a little up and fold it again to form a little square. If the model has sleeves, just do the same process as the blouses.
You can also fold this roll in half twice to create a small packet. Finally, pass the highest part with buttons behind the body so you can close it with the ones in front.
6. Keep the clothes by size
Now that the clothes are all separated and folded by size, always fit from the smallest to the largest, from the top drawer to the bottom.
Many families choose to leave only the clothes that the baby will wear at the moment, for example, from size 0 to 3 months. The rest can remain in the wardrobe to rotate as the little one grows.
Tip: avoid the batteries, as they prevent the display. Preferably, always arrange the pieces vertically, one behind the other. This way, you avoid that little mess and still gain space. If you prefer, organize the pieces by color, from light to dark.
7. Tidy up cloth diapers and other accessories
After the clothes, the ideal is to keep the most frequently used shoes, socks, caps, cloths and diapers. Here even hair accessories for the girls. What does not fit, you can put in the wardrobe.
8. Use the lower drawers to place pockets and blankets
As it requires more effort to access, the lower drawers should be used to store little-used objects such as bags, blankets, blankets and stock for some products.
At the end of the organization, you can still use labels to facilitate the identification of parts and sizes.
