Tennis legend Serena Williams said in a post on her Instagram account that she experienced negative emotions after giving birth.
Notably, Williams, considered one of the greatest living athletes, wrote that she struggled with feelings of sadness after giving birth to her daughter. Alexis Olympia Ohanian, just under a year ago.
Williams, who survived complications during labor and life-threatening health problems after childbirth, reached the Wimbledon finals ten weeks after the birth of her daughter. Over the past week, the tennis player has been venting on social media, talking about her feelings of depression.

“Mainly I felt I was not a good mom,” wrote Serena, who admits, also in the post, that she has read that postpartum depression can last up to three years later if it is not properly treated.
He then wrote that it was not always easy to balance life as a mother and the demands of her career. “It is perfectly normal to feel that you are not doing enough for your baby,” she wrote.
“Talking about it with my mother, my sisters, whoever is closest to me, I understood that it is a perfectly normal situation. It is normal to feel that you are not doing enough for your child. I work, I train, I try to be the best athlete possible. And this also means not being next to Olympia as I would like ».
Williams also offered encouragement to other mothers, noting that many of them faced similar challenges. “I think many mothers feel the way I do. Whether we stay at home or work, finding the right balance is always difficult. I want to tell you one thing: you are true heroines ».
