A brief cough or a one-time fit of coughing is usually nothing to worry about. However, if your little one continues to cough, it should be examined by a doctor. This is especially true if your child has a fever and looks sick overall

Rubbing in can also help. However, only use preparations that are approved for babies and toddlers. Active ingredients such as menthol and camphor can cause dangerous breathing spasms. Bronchial ointments with thyme and marjoram are recommended for small children.
Make sure that your baby is drinking enough and that the air around them is not too dry. The liquid helps the to liquefy viscous mucus in the bronchi. This makes it much easier to cough up.
Be cautious with Herbal cough teas, as infants often have an allergic reaction to certain plant components. Fennel tea (1/2 teaspoon in 1/4 l of boiling water, let steep for 5 minutes) or aniseed tea, both of course unsweetened, are usually well tolerated.
Do not apply any moist chest compresses (chest compresses) or neck compresses to children under one year of age. You can warm a gauze diaper over the heater and wrap it around your child’s chest and pull their pajamas over them. Alone Heat supply already shows a relaxing and expectorant effect.
