From 6 March to 25 April 2020 the DAISY for AIRC. Once again, for the seventh consecutive year, AICG (Italian Association of Gardening Centers) and its associates renew the support for cancer research of the AIRC Foundation and to do so they choose the daisy, flower of purity par excellence and 100% made in Italy product.
In recent years the initiative has achieved considerable results. Last year, for example, the “Margherita per AIRC” was present in about 70 AICG Gardening Centers, 18 thousand copies were sold, thanks to which about 27,000 euros were raised. These funds made it possible to finance the first annuity of one scholarship assigned to Dr. Arghavanifard Negar, engaged at IFOM – FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology – of Milan in a research project on the molecular pathways shared by cancer cells and those of the placenta.
For this edition 2020 of the project, the solidarity Margherita will once again have the support of another Margherita: the world fencing champion Margherita Granbassi, for years alongside AIRC in the dual role of ambassador and volunteer.
The DAISY for AIRC is a ‘entirely Italian excellence: comes from the Ligurian Riviera, in particular from the plain of Albenga, where about 10 million pots are produced every year, and is guaranteed by FDAI – Filiera Agricola Italiana Spa. It will also be marked with a label signed by FDAI and AICG.
Each daisy plant will bear a “talking” label with QR code, thanks to which it will be possible to access a series of special contents: texts, videos and images to discover in more detail the project, the characteristics and information on the cultivation and maintenance of the daisy, in addition to information on Aicg, Airc and the research project funded in recent years.
This year too there will be numerous garden centers associated with AICG (the complete list on the site) where it will be possible to buy the solidarity MARGHERITA plants at the price of 4.50 euros: for each daisy sold, 1.50 euros will be donated to the Italian Cancer Research Association to support a new scholarship established thanks to the commitment of AICG.
