But let’s also see other ideas to celebrate our fathers and the fathers of our children in the best way.
- A maxi card, with a tie
The template of this DIY card can be found on the website of the talented teacher Lannaronca. You can print it on colored and stiff paper, or use the template to draw it by hand.
To create a do it yourself ticket more personalized, it is possible to sew real buttons on the cardboard, and create a quasi-real tie, using our fabric scraps. The inside of the card can be lined with white paper and is used to house the children’s greeting message (or drawing). The handkerchief placed inside the pocket can in turn be transformed into a paper note, adding the inscription: To my dad.
- A card with our photo
On Martha Stewart’s website the idea to create a card with our portrait or our photo. We cut out a rather long rectangle of cardboard, and fold it into three equal parts. In the first two sides a square or round window is created to house the photo, which is held ‘suspended’ by a small cord glued to the edge of the card. This way the photo is ‘mobile’ and creates a nice three-dimensional effect.
What’s simpler, but at the same time more heartfelt and personal, than a greeting card to celebrate father? Instead of the usual gift, mothers can involve children, even the smallest ones, in their favorite activity: to color! Here are some ideas:
Among the sites that are part of the great family of Pianeta Mamma there is also that of the Maestra Mary where you will find many coloring cards and to give as a gift on Father’s Day. There are certificates of merit for a super dad, tie-shaped cards, dad’s report card, or sweet heart-shaped drawings to write good wishes.
- Many tickets, not just one!
A very simple idea to give to dad for Father’s Day. Especially if he spends a lot of time in the office and we want to let him know how much we think about him during the day. It is enough to get a cube of post-it notes or paper tickets (white, blue or all colored), and draw a few figures in pencil, to color, or write a love message on each side. It can be packaged with a colored ribbon, accompanied by a nice pen, or a chocolate.
Finally, here are some suggestions if you want to accompany the card made by hand or colored by children to a do it yourself gift, original and useful for dad:
- A kit for fathers who travel by car
This is a useful idea, which involves a small expense for the purchase of something useful for fathers who travel often for work. It is necessary to buy a box (preferably made of metal, so it does not deform) to fill with some useful objects: a notebook with a pen, a battery to make light, possibly a mini charger for mobile phones (now there are very small and very cheap, stack-shaped), latex gloves to avoid getting your hands dirty in case of car repair, wet wipes, a pair of scissors or a Swiss army knife and other useful things. Also it would be very nice to record a CD with some songs sung or commented by the children, to keep dad company in a fun way while driving.
A very usual gift, but also original, if created by the hands of a child, ideal to brighten up the sad days in the office of dad. You can look for a nice stone and have the children paint it as they like. After having carefully washed and dried the stone, it is painted with a base of white acrylic color, and it is left to dry very well. Then we proceed with the decoration, using a permanent marker or acrylic paints again.
- A bulletin board to keep work notes
Another idea for the office or home studio, to help dad keep his receipts, flyers and bills, without losing sight of anything. It is made with a light wooden panel, which can be hand painted or covered with decoupage or scrapbooking paper. Once dry, it is completed by inserting very large colored rubber bands, inserted ‘checkerboard’, so that the tickets can easily hang. As an alternative to the rubber bands, you can use three pieces of string, which are fixed horizontally on the board, and completed with clothespins or clip-on clips.
- A matching embroidered T-shirt for father and son
From the idea of a mother, two simple blue T-shirts purchased for a few euros can become two nice gift ideas with a few threads of wool and a pinch of dexterity and patience! You can …
