Do you have any ideas for twin names (boy and girl)? – Chat corner
I’ve just read a page, so about half of the comments and my head is smoking with names, complaints, whining and stories, so I don’t intend to read any further and only comment on half of the sentence above, sorry.
I only have one daughter Larissa.
But Larissa’s cousins are twins and only two months older, the three of them get along great, even if the kindergarten teacher always said the twins would shut themselves up too much.
With twins I would always make sure that the names are not too similar or even rhyme, such as Larissa and Clarissa, Leo and Theo etc. Then you get confused quickly, both when you call the children and when they are called in kindergarten or school. If the names are different, it is often better for the children because they also learn better that they are two people to 100% each, and not two halves. But be careful, names that are too different, such as Angelique and Marie are also not a good solution: Marie then rightly wonders why her sister has such a “special” name while every second child in kindergarten is now called Marie. (Of course Angelique can also wonder why she only has to spell her name over and over again, that’s the way it goes)
I find two names that sound different but mean the same thing very nice, but it is quite difficult to find suitable names that really say something. I also prefer different initials for twins, because in many clubs (gymnastics, riding, soccer, etc.), especially at tournaments, only J. Schaller or K. Lachner is noted. If the children then Melina and Melinda hot they have a problem again.
You can also do everything last-minute: you look at your children and you know what their names are. With Larissa we hadn’t quite made up our minds and still the names Lara, Sina and Sophie shortlisted, but her face said only Larissa. You have to see the child to be able to name it.
Also, I wouldn’t resort to prominent twin names like Hannah and Annemarie (Hanni and Nanni) or Pat (Patricia) and Isabel (English form of Hanni and Nanni), Mary–Kate and Ashley or Bill and Tom etc. The twins will have to struggle enough to develop their own personality, so there is no need for more standards and role models.
The same number of letters are nice as with Theresa and Johanna.
If I had male twins I would call them Luca and Alec, or Luca and Alex or Finn and Luca.
There are more options for girls:
my nieces are called Yasmine and Phyllis
(Mina and Phill),
Mirijam and Yasmine or Phyllis were still talking.
Ina, Amy, Uta, Lea, and Zoe go together quite well.
Cara and Jana,
Sarah and Emily, Greta and Sarah,
Luzia and Grazia (sounds a bit southern, so in my opinion not suitable for blue-eyed blondes)
Johanna + Katinka, (Hanna and Tinka)
Johanna and Theresa (Hanna and Tessa)
Leah and Zoey,
!!! Alex and Zoey !!!
Fits particularly well in my opinion, because of A and Z and the two “particularly rare” letters x and y.
For a couple, I would choose Robin and Leah / Merle /Linda
Jonathan and Catharina
Timothy and Theresa,
Lars and Luna,
(or Lars-Malte and Luna-Marie)
Oliver and Hannah
but such a decision would be pretty difficult for me.
It’s a shame that you didn’t write in which direction you imagined the names: long, short, ultra-modern, timeless or old-fashioned, German or English (Nordic, more Italian, etc.) and which letters, especially at the beginning.
Then I would have come up with something more targeted, but now I had to rely on my taste.
I hope you like it anyway
and I was on time (you didn’t write when the time came)
So, I really hope I was able to help you and you’ll poke something reasonably useful for yourself with all this quark. 🙂
I’ve only read half of it and I would have liked to dump a few users in between, but some tips really appealed to me.
Maybe I should have twins one day …
No not true.
You also have to remember that it is double the risk and double the work, and twice as expensive. Normal siblings can inherit things, with twins you always need everything at once …
I would be happy if you (or others) read this and write a comment / write whether my tips (commented on by my twin-experienced sister-in-law) were useful for you / you.
And most importantly with twins: Let them develop their own personality, give them different and identical toys and clothes, then each twin can choose for themselves, every day anew, whether they want to be a twin today or a single person.
! Tip! With arguers, things like separate classes / groups and different hairstyles, clothes, toys and also different household tasks often help, never say: Today you bring your garbage down but: Mina, take the garbage down. Phill, help dad mow the lawn. Next time you do it the other way around. Different friends are also particularly important: Today Mina can invite someone, tomorrow Phill. Today you are both allowed to visit a friend (they will then come up with different names.) Children’s birthdays are also particularly important: Give each child a number (e.g. 4, the number of people to invite and write it down. If names appear twice that’s okay, if not. So in the end you have a maximum of eight and at least four people, with Mina and Phill in a similar situation there were six children. The names that both have chosen get the invitation from the twins together, the other will be presented by only one twin at a time.
Of course you can celebrate twice, but that’s way too much effort and
most twins prefer to party together too.
See you soon, your Jana.
VG from Larissa 🙂
and Ulli with Phill and Mina,
we hope we could help you.
